Rules

The Staff of Lumos Forums comprise of the Headmistress, Secretary to the Headmistress and Aurors. None of us are paid to do this job and therefore we are all maintaining this forum because we too are dedicated fans of the Harry Potter novels. While we appreciate and value your opinions on all topics, a Moderator's decision is final. If you continuously argue with members of staff, or respond rudely to warnings, then more warnings can and will be issued. If you wish to complain about a warning you have received, PM one of the Administrators.

Please remember to watch your spelling, grammar and abbreviations. Lazy English and Instant Messaging/phone text lingo is not appreciated by anyone and doesn't help our many members who speak English as a second language. Please try and be as clear and precise as you can when posting. Remember to spell check your work using an online spell checker or MSWord and ALL CAPS is not to be used when posting comments. Ensure that you do not double or triple post. We have a handy edit feature to edit any comments back into a post if you can. We may consider it post-count boosting if you do this.

Content Not Acceptable in This Forum

• Attacking statements directed at a specific member or group in society. This includes derogatory comments based on actual or perceived age, race, gender, nationality, place of residence, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs, or other opinions of the poster / group.
  
• Rude or offensive comments directed at a person's beliefs. Comments putting down another's religion, political party, or other beliefs will not be tolerated. Please stay respectful of the views of others, even when you strongly disagree with them. This especially applies to rude or hateful remarks concerning another's religious beliefs. Comments of this sort will not be tolerated.
  
• Direct disrespect towards any public figure. This includes rude names or sarcastic comments regarding any figure such as a president, congressmen, or religious leader.
  
• Losing your temper or making comments with strong, negative emotions. You must remain respectful at all times and keep your head. All discussions are to remain calm. This is a place for intellectual conversation, not random shouting or putting down of others and their views.
  
• Any comments degrading another's religious beliefs, figures (past or present) associated with those beliefs, or the deity(s) believed in by that person, will be considered a serious breach of these guidelines. Members violating this rule will receive one warning, after which, upon a repeat offence, they will be banned.
  
• Do not be breif when starting a discussion/RolePlaying post. Whether you think that a few words or sentences can get your point across, others may not understand so easily. Be as descriptive as possible.
  

These rules are subject to change frequently, and we urge you to check them as often as you can. The most important rule here on Lumos is to have fun!
